These small trials seem very harmless, and yet they sometimes take a lot of our time. If only we had tricks up our sleeves on how to get them done faster and easier, sewing would be a much better experience. - Threading is one of the most challenging parts of sewing and it can become pretty tough sometimes, especially for those whose eyesight is not 20/20. Hairspray will help you with this. Spraying hair spray on the tip of the thread will make it harder and it will become easier to get through the needle’s eye.
- Make your cutting tables extra functional by securing a measuring tape on one of its edges. This will make measuring and cutting easier without the need to take out your measuring tape from your box.
- Buttons stay in place longer by putting nail polish on them. The polish helps strengthen the thread keeping the button in place.
- Sharpen scissors easily by cutting through different materials like foil, cardboard, and steel wool.
- Cut fabrics perfectly by pinning the pattern on it and using it as a guide. This way, you will be sure to have the right length and the right cuts.
- Pile patterns for repeated use. Patterns for pillows, pajamas and the usual stuff may repeatedly be needed. Pile them up and cut away.
- Use plastic bags when sewing puffy fabric to avoid thread tangling and keeping the fabric in place.
- Set up a peg board in your sewing room to organize your things and arrange stuff creatively so it also doubles as a room decoration.
- Use a clothespin when sewing, especially when sewing bindings and piping.
- Use a rotary cutter and a mat when cutting intricate patterns especially when strips are needed. Using a basic ruler and scissor can be tedious and often leads to poor cuts.
