Step-By-Step Guide To Creating Your Custom Swing Tags
Step 1: Create or upload your own custom swing tag design
Dutch Label Shop offers a series of online tools to design and create your very own custom swing tags for clothing, also named "hang tags" by some. You can upload your pre-designed swing tag or build it right on our site.
If you already have a clothing swing tag designed using your favourite design software, simply click "Upload Your Design" at the top of this page to upload your design to our Hanging Label Uploader in .psd, .jpg, or .png format. Make sure designs are uploaded as high-quality images; this will help create a crisp & flawless print.
If you haven't designed yours yet, select "Design Online" to use our Online Swing Tag Designer Tool. You can create unique custom hanging tags without any experience. You'll be able to add your own text, then choose custom details from our library of fonts, colours, and imagery. Everything is formatted correctly so you won't need to worry about things like file size and image quality.
Step 2: Adding a Hang Cord
Next you can select whether you'd like cord with your swing tags - in which case, we will pre-thread your tags for you, saving you so much time! Alternatively, you can of course source your own cord and thread the tags yourself. Please note that in this case your swing tag will still come with the punched hole in the centre top, making it easy to add your own cord later.
Step 3: Finish your order
Now all you have to do is select how many swing tags you want to order and add your custom tags to your cart. Don't forget to add in any other types of clothing labels you may need, such as woven labels, care labels, or printed labels so that everything arrives together when you need it.

Practical Uses for Personalised Hanging Labels
Custom swing tags offer a diverse range of applications. They serve as a means to convey essential information such as branding details, pricing, and sizes, as well as a space for further information about the inspiration behind a product, its uses, and even your brand ethos.
They are essential in elevating your products' visibility on retail shelves, catching the attention of shoppers at market stalls, in showrooms and even when products are delivered directly to customers in online orders.
Swing tags also serve as a final fixture to homemade gifts as well as having many uses in home organisation like labelling storage containers, attaching key information to fabrics (meterage, composition, etc.) and labelling homemade patterns.
Other uses for swing tags outside of strictly selling garments include as furniture tags or on other items like handbags, yoga mats, jewellery and much more. They are so easy to attach to a range of products and will ensure that your branding is visible to all potential customers.
Tips for Designing Your Swing Tags
Hang tags offer diverse formatting options, depending on your brand's marketing approach. Standard information to include is brand name, location, social media handles and website address. You will then want to address product specific information. Some brands choose to do this by providing a more customisable blank space where size, price and product details can be filled out on individual swing tags, and other brands with less individualised products can add that during the design process.
The reverse side of the swing tag presents an excellent chance to feature a concise overview of your business or your brand slogan. Some swing tags adopt a minimalist approach with just a logo and a clean back, while others embrace additional details that might not typically be found on woven labels.
Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Swing Tags
What Is A Swing Tag?
A swing tag (or hang tag, depending on who you ask!) is a tag attached to the outside of a garment or merchandise and is usually removed before use. Swing tags can contain a personalised logo, as well as readily accessible information about the product. It is frequently attached to the product via a string, thread, or plastic adjoiner.
Swing tags can be made from a variety of different materials, ranging from paper to leather to textile or wood, although they are usually made from cardboard. Dutch Label Shop swing tags are made using the highest quality bristol board and are then finished off with a hole punch for optional cord attachment to make displaying your swing tags easier.
What’s The Difference Between Swing Tags, Hang Tags And Hanging Labels?
Although it may seem a little confusing, Hang Tags, Swing Tags and Hanging Labels are all different ways of saying the exact same thing... Essentially there is no difference, so don't be caught out when you see any of these terms, as they are completely interchangeable.
