Am I required to have an email address to order labels?

Yes, most of our customer support and all automated communication is through email, so we require a valid email address.

Are you an American company?

Yes. While the two co-founders' personal roots are Dutch, our headquarters are in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We also have an office and a growing customer base in Europe. Our products are manufactured with integrity and care at various locations.

Are your payments secure?

All our payments are processed by established and trusted payment providers. We do not store any of your credit card data or other sensitive payment information.

Can I still login into my Labels And Ribbon account?

We have moved to a new order system, which has a lot advantages and allows us for example to ship faster, we are working on transferring all the account and order information into our new system. For now however, please re-enter your address and order information on the first order with the new website. For subsequent orders you can login and reorder as always.

Can I still order the same labels I always ordered?

Yes, you can reorder your previous orders. All options, colors, fonts, symbols etc are available on the new site, so you can order the same labels. We don’t have the order information in our new order system, but we have it on our own files, so if you have any question please contact us and we will guide you through the process. We encourage you to recreate your order as this will be a great opportunity to check out all the new design options available and perhaps make you label even nicer!

Can your labels be sewn onto any fabric?

Yes. Depending on the size of your labels, they can easily be sewn on to any textile or fabric product.

Do you charge shipping fees?

We charge $ 5 shipping fees for all orders with an order total of less than $ 50. Order for $ 50 or more and shipping is free!

Do you offer expedited production?

Unfortunately not. We ship our custom made products after 7 days, and Stock Labels are shipped after 3 days. We can't work any faster than that. So in summary, we ship our products according to the following schedule, unless there is an issue with your order instructions and / or shipping address:

How can your prices be so much lower compared to Labels And Ribbon?

We have been working closely with our suppliers to improve every step of the process. In combination with our growth, this has resulted in better prices and we want to share this benefit with our customers.

How long do the labels last?

Our labels will last at least as long as the t-shirt, pillowcase, or other fabric product they are used for.

How long is shipping to an address in Canada?

We ship out after 7 days!

Being probably the fastest in our industry, we commit to shipping your custom made products 7 days after you placed the order! In some cases, orders / images need to be adjusted before they can be produced. In these cases, 7 days are measured from the moment the adjustment is agreed upon.

Our regular shipping method is USPS First Class Package mail. We ship from our address in Philadelphia, PA, USA. It is our experience that, on average, it takes between 6-8 days to reach its destination address in Canada. However, please do note that in rare cases it may take considerably longer (we have recorded extremes up to 2 weeks). If you require your packages faster, please consider requesting expedited shipping.

PS note that stock labels are not custom made, so these products ship 3 days after you placed the order.
How long is shipping to an address in the USA?

We ship out after 7 days!

Being probably the fastest in our industry, we commit to shipping your custom made products 7 days after you placed the order! In some cases, orders / images need to be adjusted before they can be produced. In these cases, 7 days are measured from the moment the adjustment is agreed upon.

Our regular shipping method is USPS First Class Package mail. We ship from our address in Philadelphia, PA. As per USPS, this means that:
  • It should take 2 days to receive your package in cities like Philadelphia, Washington DC, New York, Baltimore, and other addresses close to Philadelphia.
  • The rest of the USA, shipping takes 3 days,
  • With the exception of Hawaii, Alaska and Guam: shipping takes 4-5 days.
PS note that stock labels are not custom made, so these products ship 3 days after you placed the order.

Iron-on Instructions

When applying a label on an existing piece of clothing: always first read the instructions on your Laundry Label / Care Label, to check whether you can use an iron.

Follow these steps:

  1. Position the label onto the fabric and cover it with baking paper.
  2. Use the "Cotton" setting on your iron.
  3. Do NOT use steam.
  4. Carefully iron over the baking paper for about 15-20 sec. Move your iron slowly.
  5. Wait approximately 2 minutes before you remove the baking paper.

Further notes:

  • The strength of the adhesive layer is also dependent on the type of fabric.
  • Fabric with Iron-on labels can be washed with hot water.

Is the chat bubble a real customer service representative?

Is the quality the same?

The quality is the same or better:

  • Basic woven labels: all labels are now woven with a thinner yarn (50 denier instead of 100 denier), which results in a higher resolution, so it’s easier to read small text and the colors are more vibrant
  • Woven logo labels: we have more options for shapes and all Pantone C colors are available
  • Care labels: we have changed the material, which is stronger, more durable and feels softer
  • Hang tags: we have increased the weight of the paper to make the tags more sturdy
Is there a sales tax for my order?

Since our company is based in the state of Pennsylvania, we charge a Sales tax of 6% for customers in Pennsylvania. For customers in all other states (or outside the USA), no sales tax is charged.

Is your contact info still the same?

Yes, same people and opening hours, the phone number hasn't changed, you can continue to chat with us through our website. The only thing that's new is our email address.

Money Back Guarantee / Returning Goods

Unless you have approved proof of the product, we offfer a full refund upon request by the customer. The conditions for a refund are: (i) You report the issue and/or make a money back request within 7 days after delivery of the product. (ii) You return the products back to The Dutch Label Shop, paying for all return shipping charges. Send the products to:

(iii) We fund the full amount within 7 days after receiving the return product(s). If we have furnished you with a proof of your product (note that this “proof” may consist of a product sample, a product photograph, or other format), and you have approved this proof, this Money Back Guarantee does not apply to your order.

What about Seam Allowance?

Before designing your labels, and choosing the type of labels you need, consider how you plan to attach it to your product. In general, we recommend a Seam Allowance of approximately 0.2" (0.5 cm). Talking about our Woven Brand Labels:

Basic Woven Labels have a 0.2" (0.5 cm = 5 mm) Seam Allowance on the right side and on the left side. Note that such Seam Allowance is not available at the top and bottom of the label.

Woven Logo Labels give you many options. You either incorporate a Seam Allowance in the Artwork, the Logo, the image that you provide to us, or You can choose to add a layer of Tafetta to your labels. Tafetta is an extra layer of thin but strong material that is added to either the Top & Bottom or to the Left & Right side of the label. Approx 0.25" of Tafetta material will be added to each side. You can also choose an "Edge Folded Label". This option will include an extra 0.25" of "regular label material" which is pre-folded for you on both sides of your label.

Finally, you can provide your Artwork Image to us specifying exactly where you want to Tafetta or Folding to be.

What are the file requirements for uploading my logo?

Our Logo Label configurator accepts JPEG, JPG, TIFF, and PDF files. All files should have a minimum resolution of 300dpi (300 pixels per inch) - anything lower will affect label quality. If you don’t have such a high-resolution image, contact us - we may be able to help you.

Make sure you match your label color, size, and shape exactly with those of your uploaded file. Shadows, patterns, and small details might not translate onto your new labels.

What background and text colors make the best combinations?

High contrast colors will complement each other the best - and really pop. Pair dark and light colors together for the best effect. (Be sure to choose the Enhanced Color Option if your label color is lighter than your text color!)

What happened to Labels And Ribbon?

After a period of collaborating, the people behind Labels and Ribbon decided to split their journey because of a different view on the company’s future. Labels and Ribbon no longer exists. Today the customer can choose between The Dutch Label Shop and Wunderlabel.

What materials are the labels made of?

Our Woven Labels are 100%, soft-to-the-touch Polyester, made with a Damask Weave, woven on professional Jacquard Looms. Their intricate weaving structure ensures long-lasting quality.

Our Care Labels are also 100% Polyester, made with a satin weave. Satin is a fabric made using a satin weave structure made with spun yarns instead of organic filament. Shiny and almost as smooth as silk, these labels give plenty of wear and tear.

What payment methods do you offer?

You can pay with credit card (all card types are accepted), Paypal or by check through e-check.

When should I choose the ‘Preserve Light Background’ option?

Our "Preserve Light Background" option weaves an additional layer of white thread into your label to vibrantly brighten the background color, and prevent shine-through.

Choose this option if your label pairs a white or a light background with a dark or bright text, symbol or logo. Adding a second layer of white yarn will prevent the logo from bleeding, or shining through, into the background.

When will I receive my package?

We ship our custom made products 7 days after the order is placed, and Stock Labels are shipped 3 days after the order is placed. In some cases, orders / images need to be adjusted before they can be produced. In these cases, 7 days are measured from the moment the adjustment is agreed upon.

Which sizes can I choose from for Brand Labels?

Our Basic Woven Labels come in three standard sizes:

  • 2.4" x 0.6" - (6.0 cm x 1.5 cm)
  • 2.4'' x 0.8'' - (6.0 cm x 2.0 cm)
  • 2.7'' x 0.9'' - (7.0 cm x 2.3 cm)

Our Woven Logo Labels are fully custom, and can be as large as 15.0" x 15.0" - (40.0 cm x 40.0 cm).

Why did you choose to rebrand?

We chose to rebrand because the easy to use Dutch Label Shop website, logo and style are aligned with our vision on craftsmanship: we serve as a facilitator on your creative journey full of joy and frustration. We are there to support you in your journey with great products, personal contact and a smooth order and shipping experience. We support creators to take their passions into business.

Why do I receive emails from both Wunderlabel and Dutchlabelshop?

After a period of collaborating, the people behind Labels and Ribbon decided to split their journey because of a different view on the company’s future. Labels and Ribbon no longer exists. Today the customer can choose between The Dutch Label Shop and Wunderlabel. If you wish to stop receive emails from one or both of these companies you can always unsubscribe from the mailing list.

Why woven labels?

According to co-founder Hielke Booijink, “a proper brand should have woven labels—not printed or embroidered labels”. High in both design and quality, woven labels are the mark of a premier, professional brand.

Will your labels fray, bleed, or fade?

No. Strong and durable, all our labels can be washed time and again with hot water—without a fear of fraying, bleeding or fading. Both our Woven Labels and our Care Labels have securely welded edges that are resistant to fraying. Woven Labels don't bleed or fade, the yarn is professionally dyed and extremely color-fast. The printing technique used for our Care Labels prevents bleeding and fading.
